I've seen some old posts but nothing within the last year or two. Has anyone here welded a gusset kit? I've read its better for MX riders and heavier riders.

WALSH Frame modification kits - WALSH Race Craft

Yamaha YFZ450 Chassis Gusset Kit - Yamaha YFZ450 2004-2014 - Lone Star Racing - $175.00

Walsh has a gusset kit for $200

LoneStar Racing has one for $175

I'm sure theres others companies that have them too, and yes people were using them for MX to reinforce stress points in the frame, I'm sure if your a heavier rider and put the bike to its limits it wouldn't hurt to use a gusset kit but not really necessary in my opinion if you aren't racing/jumping

it would be up to you, just consider your gonna have to spend $175 off the bat to buy the kit and either weld it on yourself or pay someone to weld it for you....and after all that you'd have to completely strip the frame down to get it powder coated or if your gonna be cheap about it you'll spray paint it but i wouldn't even think about doing that, id do it right and powder coat it

you'd be looking at roughly $600 for gusset kit, welding, powder coating

The bike is going to get stripped down and powder coated now anyway thats why I was considering to do it now. I just wanted to see if anyone else here has already done it and have experienced it saving their frame lol.

then if your already doing that it wouldn't be a bad idea to do the gusset kit

pretty sure it wouldn't hurt to beef up the shock, a-arm, subframe, steering stem mounts

id do it if i hadn't already powder coated my frame :icon_neutral:
